Noggin Number Cards

Play and learn with our Noggin Number Cards! Use this set to help your little mathematicians identify numbers and practice counting both at playtime and with everyday activities.

Parent Tips

  1. With any activity, begin with numbers 1-5 for early learners, then move on to 1-10, then finally 1-20.
  2. Pick a number, then ask your child: What number comes next? What number comes before?
  3. Try making a mistake counting with your child and see if they catch it!
  4. After your child grows comfortable counting, try counting backwards. Start from 3, then 5, until you gradually reach 20.
  5. When holding up each card, ask your child, “What number is this?” (Count the dots together if they don’t recognize the number right away.)

Activities That Count

Goal: Children will practice counting and identifying numerals from 1-20

Turn your everyday activities into a fun counting game! Choose things to count throughout the day, then find the Noggin Number Card that matches what you counted.

Suggested Ideas

How many steps did you take from the table to the refrigerator?

How many pieces of banana did you have for a snack?

How many books did we read before bedtime?

Parent Tip: Ask your child, what does the number “five” look like? What about the number “three”? Can you find the card that matches these numbers?

Exercising Math Skills

Goal: Children will practice identifying numerals and counting as they exercise!

Shuffle the Noggin Number Cards.

Pick one exercise activity. (Ideas include jumping jacks, skips, one-foot hops, rocket jumps, two-legged jumps, touching toes, etc.)

Ask your child to pick a card, then ask them to do their exercise activity. For example, if they pick jumping jacks and the number 4, have them do 4 jumping jacks.

Parent tip: Change up the game, and ask your child how many times they want to jump/hop/etc. Then ask them to find the right card.

Counting is a Ball!

Goal: Children will practice counting in order and recognizing numerals

Pick your child’s favorite ball.

Shuffle the Noggin Number Cards. Ask your child to choose a card.

Roll or throw the ball back and forth as many times as what’s on the number card. For example, if you pick 4, throw the ball to your child and say, “One!” Then, when your child throws the ball back, they would say, “Two!” Keep going until you reach 4.

Parent tip: For a challenge, pick a card, then start counting at that number. For instance, if you pick 5, then start counting there: 5, 6, 7, etc.
