What You'll Need
- Paper plates
- Construction paper
- Kid-safe scissors
- Tape or glue
- Googly eyes (note to grown-ups: Do not use small objects, like googly eyes, with young children. Draw or paint eyes instead!)
- Crayons, paint, or markers
- Optional: Print out our animal templates to use to decorate the plates.
How to Create
Ask your child to decide what type of animal they would like to create. Animals they might consider include: elephant, tiger, lion, giraffe, flamingo, pig, or bunny.
Help them create the ears and any other features of the animal. Or consider using our printable to cut out the special features.
Ask your child to paint or color the plate to represent the animal, then add on the ears, eyes, and other defining features.
Add any other finishing touches! Now it’s time to go wild with your creations!

Parent Tips
- Encourage your child to use imaginative play with the Paper Plates Pals after creating them. For example, you can attach a long stick on the bottom of each one, and help your child put on a play!
- If your child isn’t sure which animal to create, consider letting them use their imagination to dream up an animal of their own!
