’Tis the Season for Cookies

National Cookie Day is on December 4! Celebrate by baking a favorite family cookie recipe together. You can share your recipe with friends by using our blank recipe card! Need some cookie inspo? Try making and baking one of these below recipes shared by our families here in our Noggin offices.

Butterballs

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Using a mixer, cream the butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  3. Add in flour and salt. Mix everything together.
  4. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
  5. Chill the dough if it’s soft.
  6. Roll the dough into approximately 1 tbsp. balls.
  7. Bake for 15-20 mins.
  8. Let butterballs cool.
  9. Roll in powdered sugar or cocoa mix for the finishing touch.

Pro Tips

  • Check on the butterballs a few minutes early while they’re baking.
  • Double the recipe to share more at a holiday party!

Thumbprint Cookies

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F, and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar.
  3. Add in egg yolks, vanilla, and salt. Mix in flour. Continue mixing until they are fully combined.
  4. Refrigerate dough for 30 mins.
  5. Use a tablespoon to measure out the dough and roll into balls. Roll in powdered sugar (optional).
  6. Indent the cookies with your thumb or a spoon. Add ½ teaspoon of jam into the indentation.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes. Check on cookies a few minutes early.
  8. Remove from the oven. Let cool and enjoy!

Pro Tips

  • Use other flavors of jam or jelly for a mixed variety of cookies.

7 Layer (Hello Dolly) Cookies

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray, then melt butter in the pan
  3. Layer the rest of the ingredients in the order as listed above.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes. Do not overbake. When it comes out, it will look a little “wet” but will harden up as it cools.
  5. Cut in to small squares or rectangles.
