Weekly Screen-Time Schedule

You can use this schedule – or any blank calendar – to carve out a regular time each week for your child’s media use. Add a Noggin character to the calendar on each of the days your child is allowed screen time so that they can look forward to it. When they’ve completed their screen time, let them add a check mark for the day!

Dr. Jenny Radesky advises, “Scheduling digital use helps preserve time for other family activities while also setting kids’ expectations for when they are allowed to use their screens. It also helps to eliminate arguments or requests for additional screen time.”

You can designate a specific time each week for media use on this schedule, as well as other “special time” activities that can be shared together. Dr. Radesky says, “Parent-child dedicated play time has been shown to reduce difficult child behavior. This can be as simple as going to the library together, teaching your child a new hobby, playing board games, or cooking together!”

Tip from Dr. Radesky

Family media use can be part of the planning. Let your kids weigh in and let you know the times they prefer to have screen-free family time, then mark it on the calendar!

About Ailey

Since its first historic performance in 1958, Ailey has been innovating and evolving the perception of American modern dance throughout the world. Noggin is honored to partner with them in helping kids all over get up moving, learning, and expressing their feelings through dance. Because movement has meaning when we dance how we’re feeling!
